What accepting or dismissing does
Accepting a suggestion adds it as a real tracked competitor, which counts against your plan's competitor limit the same as adding one manually. Dismissing a suggestion tunes future suggestions rather than simply hiding that one company.
What it does not do
A suggestion is not a claim that the company is your most important competitor, only that it plausibly fits your profile and industry. Review each one before accepting it rather than adding suggestions automatically.
