Backfill explained

Backfill means filling in historical data, and Vyera does not do this automatically for newly added sources.

Backfill means filling in historical data for a period before tracking started. Vyera does not do this automatically.

Why history starts where it starts

Tracking for a source begins from the point you add it. Changes that happened on a competitor's page before that point are not recovered, because Vyera has no record of what the page looked like before it was being watched.

What it does not do

Backfill, where it applies, does not reconstruct history from nothing. It cannot recover a change that happened before a source existed, and it does not guess at what may have changed in that gap.

It also does not affect sources that have been running for a while. This only relates to the gap before a source's first successful run.
