Responding to a competitor's review advantage

Find the specific theme driving a competitor's review advantage before deciding how to respond to it.

Find the specific theme driving a competitor's review advantage before deciding how to respond to it.

Three honest responses

If the theme points to a real gap, such as a feature or reliability issue, the honest response is product work rather than a messaging fix. If you are comparable but under-reviewed on that theme, the response is encouraging more of your own customers to leave reviews, not disputing the competitor's. If the theme is a misconception about your product, the response is countering it directly with evidence from your own tracked data.

What it does not do

This does not include manufacturing reviews, encouraging fake engagement, or anything that would violate a review platform's terms. A review advantage is addressed by improving the product or genuinely earning more reviews, not by gaming the reading of it.
